Arun Diaz is a Management Consultant working with local and multinational clients in India and abroad.
With a degree in Mathematics from the University of Madras and an MBA from Xavier Institute, Jamshedpur, India, Arun joined Standard Chartered Bank in India in 1973. His early career covered all areas of banking and included assignments in Europe and the Middle East. From 1985 he was Operations Manager, India with responsibility for Technology and Operations.
For the 10 year period from 1992 to 2001, Arun was based in Singapore and headed several group level projects including Profitability Improvement, Cross-border Processing and Re-engineering. Following a stint as Head of Integration for a major acquisition in Indonesia, his last assignment as Head of Programme and Change Management involved setting up and overseeing a group of 20 projects designed to reduce the Bank’s cost base through outsourcing, centralization and off-shoring.
Since leaving Standard Chartered Bank in late 2001, Arun was Head, Reuters Consulting South Asia for a 15 month period before becoming a freelance consultant. Arun is also a director of two private limited companies; one which provides recruitment, training and staffing services to clients in the banking, insurance, telecom and BPO industries and the other which runs a clinic which is a franchisee of The Apollo Clinic in Thane, near Mumbai.
He also volunteers his time to entrepreneurship development through Aavishkaar India Micro Venture Capital Fund of which he is a trustee and member of the Investment Committee. The fund invests in small businesses which are socially relevant, environmentally friendly and economically viable. Arun enjoys providing handholding and mentoring support to many of the funds investee companies. In addition he takes a keen interest in social entrepreneurship and NGO activities.
Sateesh Andra is a Managing Partner at Ventureast, primarily overseeing the Ventureast Tenet Fund, a premier early-stage VC Fund consisting of investments across technology (Mobility, Cloud, Internet) and technology-enabled (Education, Healthcare, Financial services, Cleantech and high-impact, invention- based social businesses) sectors. He has worked in or with venture-backed technology start-ups in U.S/ India for the past fourteen years. With hands-on start-up experience and in-depth knowledge of the dynamics of VC funding, he looks for highly motivated and energetic entrepreneurs to partner with.
Prior to joining Ventureast, Sateesh was Venture Partner and one of the founding members of Draper Fisher Jurvetson (DFJ), India. He helped launch Hyderabad Angels, a platform to provide seed capital to start-ups. As a private investor earlier, Sateesh has also invested in early stage American and Indian venture capital funds.
Prior to DFJ, Sateesh co-founded Euclid, a leader in the IT Management Software space and was instrumental in raising VC funding ($35 M+), acquiring, and managing marquee customers and partners. He has also served in product marketing and engineering leadership roles at Tsqware (Conexant), LSI Logic, and VLSI Technology (Philips). Sateesh holds U.S. patents in Communications and Networking and has published several articles on Business – IT Alignment.
Sateesh holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. He is a Charter Member of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE). He is actively involved with the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy with the objective of popularizing sports, and promoting fitness consciousness in the corporate world. Sateesh co-founded Health Awareness Promotion Project India (HAPPi), which creates awareness about Non Communicable Diseases among IT professionals.
Kannan has about 20 years of association with NGOs and other groups engaged in rural development. He founded Vortex in 2001 to develop technologies appropriate to rural India. He is also founder of a matriculation school in Tamil Nadu. He is associated with the LRAMP programme of IIT Madras that mentors grassroots innovators. He holds various patents on the vortex ATM design. He completed his B.Tech (Mechanical Engg.) from IIT Madras.
Sathyan has over 25 years of diversified experience & consistent achievements in building & managing businesses, related to IT & technology solutions.Around 2 decades of this time has been spent addressing the financial & banking industry, with complex solution offerings in areas like self-service, multi-channel, core banking, internet banking, banking analytics, risk managment, wealth management, infrastructure management, IT security, IT storage etc.
In his last role, Sathyan was Managing Director of Wincor Nixdorf India. previous organizations worked for include Oracle Financial Systems & Software, Computer Associates, Sequent Computer Systems, Wipro Infotech, Tata Unisys & Pertech Computers Ltd, where Sathyan joined from campus as a Management Trainee.Sathyan did his BE-Electronics & Communication from UVCE, Bangalore University
Anu Valli is an Investment Manager with Bamboo Finance. She is responsible for covering investments in Asia. As part of the team, Anu has worked on transactions in the energy and education sectors. She is responsible for identifying, evaluating and recommending new investments and managing existing portfolio including sitting on Boards of investees.
Previously, she led the Rural Energy Network Enterprise (RENE), an incubator of IFMR Trust focused on bridging supply chain gaps in rural India's access to affordable energy. As part of this, she established a last-mile distribution channel for energy products in Southern India and developed a web portal to verify product quality. Prior to this, she was with Citigroup's investment banking business in Mumbai and Hong Kong. As an analyst, she worked on M&A, IPO and private placement transactions in the energy, power and chemicals sectors. She holds a Bachelor in Commerce from Madras University and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Management from International Management Institute, New Delhi. Anu speaks Tamil, Hindi and English
Mohan is currently Partner with Tata Capital Innovations Fund. He has 34 years of experience in investments, merchant banking, SME & corporate lending and private equity. He has been involved in different stages of industry life cycle.
Prior to joining Tata Capital, he was the head of domestic treasury at State Bank of India (SBI). In his 31 years at SBI, Mohan has built expertise across the entire gamut of the investment universe. He has also managed the largest money market, fixed income and public equity treasury portfolio in India ($40 B) for over 5 years. He has a strong network of relationships within the Indian financial services system.
Mohan is a National Science Talent Search Scholar (1971 batch) and holds a postgraduate in Physics from IIT Bombay. He is also a certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers.
Stewart is an advisor with Bamboo Finance, where he focuses on their Indian investments. Prior to joining Bamboo Finance Stewart worked for GIC, the Singapore Government's sovereign wealth fund, based in Singapore, as part of their portfolio group; advising on investment opportunities and sitting on boards on investee companies, mainly in the area of manufacturing, infrastructure and natural resources.
Prior to GIC Stewart worked for the IFC (World Bank Group) based in Washington DC, evaluating investments. During this period he spend 14 months in China assisting SME. Prior to IFC Stewart was responsible for various manufacturing companies in Europe, US and Asia, mainly in the mechanical, electrical and electronics sectors. Stewart has a Physics degree from Oxford University, and an MBA from London Business School.
Vineet is currently Principal, Private Equity with Tata Capital Innovations Fund responsible for investments in the field of technology led Innovations. He has 15+ years of professional experience in the field of private equity, investment banking and manufacturing. His areas of specialization include corporate finance transactions, commercial contracts and financial control.
Prior to joining Tata Capital, Vineet was with Old Lane responsible for investments in Indian Infrastructure. Before that he was with the investment banking teams of Ernst & Young and SBI Capital Markets and has been associated with quite a few marquee corporate finance transactions. He also has shop floor experience with Steel Authority of India Limited.
Vineet holds Masters in Finance & Control degree from Delhi University and Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Rourkela. He is also a CFA Charterholder.
