Vortex Engineering Wins Srijan Innovation Award for Technology Innovation!

 

We are thrilled to announce that Vortex Engineering has been recognized for our technological advancements in financial inclusion! We were recently awarded the Srijan Innovation Award 2009 in the Technology Innovation category.

This prestigious award, presented by Intellecap in partnership with Standard Chartered and NABARD, acknowledges the impactful contributions made by organizations within the microfinance sector. The Srijan 2009 ceremony took place at the Hyatt Regency in Mumbai on December 8th, 2009.

Out of over 70 nominations across four categories, Vortex Engineering was among the five finalists selected for the final jury presentation. The esteemed international jury panel included industry leaders like Mona Kachchwaha (Director, Caspian Advisors Private Limited), Pravin Gandhi (Seed Fund), Frits van der Have (Goodwell MDC), and Jun Zhang (IFC).

During the award ceremony, Frits van der Have announced Vortex Engineering as the clear winner in the Technology Innovation for Impact in Financial Inclusion category. He recognized our innovative approach to developing ATMs with exceptionally low capital and operational expenditures. He expressed his hope that this technology would play a pivotal role in driving an “ATM revolution” in India, making them as ubiquitous as public calling booths (PCOs).

The award was presented to Sabari (founder, Skillveri Metaverse & XR Simulations) by Shri Vijay Mahajan, a pioneer of microfinance in India and Chairman of Basix. This recognition is a testament to our ongoing dedication to developing solutions that empower financial inclusion and accessibility across the nation.

Sheshank Shekhar C

S Gopalakrishnan has around 30 years’ of experience in various industries including Cement, Float Glass, Pharma, Energy, & Mining.  He is a Chartered Accountant and Cost Accountant by qualification, having hands on experience in setting up Start-ups & MSME companies, setting up renewable energy infrastructure, finalizing sales agreements, M&A, & setting up processes and controls.  He has specialized in arrangement of fund, both debt and equity, enterprise relationship, & investor management.

G. Vanjinathan

Senior Vice President - Customer Support Services

G. Vanjinathan in his present role as Senior Vice President of Customer Support Services, is responsible for Domestic and International support services, Profit & Loss, and Service Level Agreement of his business.

He has more than 25 years of experience in Heading customer service operations, Project Management, Customer Relationship Management, SLA,  Technical Support and Global pre and post-sale support, in the ATM industry. Before joining Vortex, he worked with Diebold Systems and Cashlink Global Systems.

He received a B.E. degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the Vellore Institute of Technology.

K.P. Manoj

Vice President - ATM R&D

Manoj has more than 25 years of experience in leading engineering teams and developing products ranging from ATM/self service, Office Automation products and Tooling for manufacturing industries. Prior to joining Vortex Engineering he had worked with HCL Technologies and TVS Electronics.  During his association with NTTF industries, a commercial Tool Room, he worked on Design of Precision Plastic Injection moulds, Press tools, Jigs & Fixtures for Automotive and Engineering products. Manoj received his BTech in Mechanical Engineering from BITS Pilani.

General Manager – Software

Kiran completed his Bachelor's in Engineering at Bharath University. He has 14+ years' of experience in multiple domains in the software development Industry. He joined as 'Engineering Software Manager' in the Software Product Development business unit at Vortex. Currently, he serves as ‘General Manager’ in the same business unit. Divya Nandwana

Director

Divya Nandwana is an accomplished professional with a strong foundation in technology and extensive experience in management consulting and strategic leadership.

She holds a Bachelor of Technology degree from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, where she developed a keen analytical mindset and a passion for innovative problem-solving. She has also done an Executive Leadership Programme from Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Divya gained international experience at Taiyo Pacific Partners LLP in Kirkland, Washington, USA. This opportunity allowed her to expand her understanding of global business practices and investment management strategies. Prior to joining Vakrangee, she has worked at KPMG India in the consulting division. Over her two-year tenure, she became an integral part of the Management Consulting, Strategy, and Operations team.

In July 2016, she joined Vakrangee wherein she initially headed the ATM Business Vertical. As she advanced in her role, she also took on the responsibility as Head of Technology, where she spearheaded the integration of advanced technology solutions to drive digital transformation across the organization.

Hari Chand Mittal

Director

Hari Chand Mittal holds a Master of Commerce degree and is a certified associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers. With a distinguished banking career spanning over 37 years at Union Bank of India, he occupied several leadership roles. His tenure culminated in the position of Field General Manager overseeing the Mumbai and Maharashtra regions under the Pune Zone, from which he retired on 31 July 2019.

Mr. Mittal possesses extensive experience in diverse areas of banking administration, encompassing a strong foundation in operations and finance. His expertise extends across MSME, Retail, Agriculture, Foreign Exchange, Import/Export, and Financial Inclusion. In addition to his banking responsibilities, he demonstrated proficiency as an administrator, mentor, and team leader. His career is marked by contributions as a motivational speaker, evaluator, and crisis manager.

 

Further to his professional accomplishments, Mr Mittal was appointed as an Independent Director on the Board of Chandigarh Smart City Ltd. This appointment was made by the Advisor to the Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh-cum-Chairman CSCL, as per notification No 15157-FII(9)-2020/15529 dated 10.12.2020, issued by the Principal Secretary/Home-cum-Local Govt, Chandigarh Administration, Local Govt Department, Union Territory, Chandigarh.

Dr. Nishikant Hayatnagarkar

Dr. Nishikant Hayatnagarkar is a distinguished technologist and a pioneer in the field of computer science, holding a Doctorate in Computer Science from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Powai, Mumbai. Dr. Hayatnagarkar is renowned for his groundbreaking work in microchip design and has made significant contributions to the development of advanced technological solutions. Among his notable innovations is a highly sophisticated voice recognition system that has been successfully implemented across various sectors, including Tele Banking and Tele Gas Booking, revolutionizing user interactions with technology.

 

In addition to his work in voice recognition, Dr. Hayatnagarkar has also excelled in the creation of multilingual technologies. He designed and developed a Multilingual Keyboard, a tool that has enhanced digital communication by bridging language barriers. His expertise in this domain has also led him to collaborate with Media Labs Asia – Kamal Rekhi School for Information Technology (IIT Mumbai), where he serves as a consultant. In this role, he has played a pivotal part in the development of the Marathi language Keyboard (Key-Lekh) and the E-Lekh, a tablet-based Marathi language input system, driving forward the digital inclusion of regional languages in the technology landscape. Dr. Hayatnagarkar's contributions have not only elevated Vakrangee Limited's technological capabilities but have also had a profound impact on the broader tech industry, particularly in the areas of language technology and human-computer interaction. His work continues to inspire innovation and set new benchmarks in the industry.
